Home – Agri-Expo Livestock 2014 – Meat & Dairy Livestock Event

The Biomin Show Arena programme for 2015 was expanded to host both the breed- and interbreed championships as well as the Mutual & Federal Agri Regional Youth Show.  World class animals were showcased in the Arena before the crowning of the ultimate breed champions. The vibe around the show ring was one of the most amazing experiences as the tension build up from day one in anticipation for the highlight of the event, which was the crowning of the ABSA Dairy Queen and the BKB Supreme Beef Cattle King/Queen on Saturday. Agri-Expo Livestock burst at it seams with the selection of programme activities presented in 2015.  The popular Dairy Goat Information Day was hosted for the second time.  In addition, a Beef Cattle Information Day was successfully presented for the fist time last year.  Existing and developing cattle and goat farmers were encouraged to participate in these two information days as the programme was earmarked to increase knowledge, improve productivity, stimulate economic growth and create an opportunity to build a stronger network in these two industry groupings. Both these information days were made possible with the financial support of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture.

Another exciting new event in 2015 was the Toyota Young Auctioneer’s Competition, in conjunction with Veeplaas & Stockfarm.

Two prestige industry events, the SA Stud Book Logix ELITE Prize giving dinner for the top Western Cape Dairy & Beef Cattle Herds and the ARC National Dairy Performers’ Awards, presented by the ARC and DAFF, took place at Agri-Expo Livestock last year.

Education plays a major role in positioning the livestock industry amongst the youth.  Learners were exposed to the different career opportunities in the livestock and agriculture industry when they visited Agri-Expo Livestock. School groups gained free entrance on Thursday and Friday after they’ve registered with the organiser’s office prior to the event. The Santam Display Arena hosted a series of activities for young and old that demonstrated the versatility of the livestock industry.  We love sharing agricultural experiences with families, so the little ones could lead a goat or calf around the ring with assistance from trained professionals.
